The Academy will help you develop your leadership skills, gain access to local community organizations, and provide you with the resources needed to lead change in YOUR community. You will get access to extracurricular activities that will boost college and job apps but doesn't take a ton of time, money, and effort to obtain. At graduation, you will receive a certificate of completion, which you can put on your resume!
You can start a community project and earn extra hours of work! You will have a place to make friends, address social issues, have the opportunity to attend the national-level youth leadership conference CADCA (community anti-drug coalitions of America), and obviously, have fun safely during the COVID19 pandemic.
About the workshops:
The academy begins with a workshop on restorative practice in which participants create norms, values, ​​and rules to be followed throughout the program. Restorative Circles are integrated into each workshop.
Facilitators model positive behavior and are encouraged to develop strong positive relationships with young people - we are here for YOU! Young people are empowered to provide feedback on the workshops and the academy through pre-and post-survey.
